Thirteen graduate students and researchers attended the Fifth iCP workshop at University of Waterloo, from May 16 to May 18. Drs. Jorge Molinero and Babak Shafei from Amphos 21 were the instructors of the workshop organized by the Ecohydrology Research Group. Amphos 21 is a company located in Barcelona, Spain that offers scientific, technical and strategic consulting services in five main market sectors: Nuclear, Mining, Water, Sustainability and Climate Change.
The workshop comprised an overview of the COMSOL Multiphysics modeling software and interface Comsol-Phreeqc (iCP) which are tools for solving a wide range of multiphysics and geochemical problems. Hands-on examples included solute transport simulations, calcite dissolution, cation exchange processes, mineral dissolution-precipitation, equilibrium and kinetics and thermo-hydro-chemical coupling in deep geological repositories.
