The April 2018 issue of Applied Geochemistry includes a publication by Ekaterina Markelova, Raoul-Marie Couture, Chris Parsons, Igor Markelov, Benoit Madé, Philippe Van Cappellen, and Laurent Charlet. The publication, titled "Speciation dynamics of oxyanion contaminants (As, Sb, Cr) in argillaceous suspensions during oxic-anoxic cycles" is an experimental and modelling study assessing contaminant migration from the argillaceous waste repositories. Abiotic processes of adsorption and reductive precipitation were studied, and a special focus was given to biotic processes, such as microbial detoxification and respiration. Aqueous chemistry results were described by thermodynamic and kinetic models and reproduced using PHREEQC.
