New review paper on catalytic and biocatalytic degradation of microplastics

A new paper published in the journal Exploration presents a review of the current state of the literature on the catalytic degradation of microplastics. The review was co-authored by ERG members Erin Griffiths, Shuhuan Li, Fereidoun Rezanezhad and Philippe Van Cappellen alongside co-authors from the Department of Chemistry.

The review explores how deploying techniques that catalyze the degradation of microplastics, including enzymes, microorganisms, nanozymes, and metal ions, is an approach that could be used to deal with plastic pollution.
