Indigenous Science: Circle Discussion on Episode 15 of Ancestral Science
The STEM Indigenization Community of Practice is organizing a series of circle discussions on the topic of Indigenous Science to be held in person this Fall. These sessions will provide an opportunity to discuss how Indigenous and “Western” approaches to science are related, and how STEM work at Waterloo can integrate and support Indigenous science activity. The circles will be led by Naomi Paul. Naomi is a member of the Métis Nation of Ontario, a PhD student in Systems Design Engineering, and a member of the Indigenous Knowledges and Antiracist Pedagogies team at the Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE).
The circle discussions will be centred on episodes of the podcast “Ancestral Science”, hosted by Kori Czuy.
The podcast episodes are roughly an hour long and covers multiple topics which can be explored in our circle discussion. We encourage all participants to listen to as much of the podcast episode as possible prior to our meeting. If you must arrive late or leave early, we can accommodate those scheduling conflicts.
