The Neebing Indigenous Art Fair

August 6-21, Bingeman's is proud to host the Neebing Indigenous Art Fair. The exhibition will feature a collection of Indigenous art celebrating the Grand River. Featured artists include Thomas Sinclair, Autumn Smith, Luke Swinson, Alanah Jewell Morningstar, Blake Aneconeb and Chief Lady Bird.

A discussion of the promise and peril of POC video game character voice acting, focusing primarily on the connections of Black male anger and Black fatherhood in God of War through the voice work of TC Carson and Christopher Judge, contextualized against the audio Brownface of two voice POC women characters in Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves.

Consent Week

Being held biannually, Consent Week takes place during the third week of September and fourth week of January. Providing an opportunity for campus community members to destigmatize and normalize the discussion about consent through activities, events and conversations centered around consent to build a #ConsentCulture all year. 

Consent week sows the seeds of lifelong principles and enables the nuanced understanding of consent, equipping the community with the tools they need to have respectful and healthy relationships with others and themselves.

Bridge: Honouring the Lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit People

Working with Shatitsirótha' Waterloo Indigenous Student Centre (WISC), the Office of Indigenous Relations (OIR), the Sexual Violence Prevention Response Office (SVPRO), and 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, Dr. Sorouja Moll initiated Bridge in 2015 (at the University of Waterloo) to create a space for all University community members to learn about the crisis as they reflect upon their responsibilities, and share in speaking the names of the lives taken to honour and remember them as red fabric is tied to the bridge between Environment 3 and United College

Palestinian Storytelling

Join us for an evening of Palestinian storytelling. Four local authors will read from their favorite pieces of Palestinian literature and discuss their own work in relation to these pieces. Engage with the resonance of the written word, the possibilities of storytelling, and the power of literature. Featuring authors Lamees Al Ethari, Jana ElKhatib, Carrie Snyder and Tasneem Jamal. This event is made possible by funding and support from UW Faculty 4 Palestine, The Foundation for Palestinian Studies Fund, The department of English Language and Literature, and The New Quarterly. Please join us for refreshments after the event!
