Indigenous History Month at WPL

In June, in honour of Indigenous History Month, we invite and encourage you to appreciate the rich culture and heritage of Indigenous peoples, while learning more about the atrocities that Indigenous communities have faced and continue to face today.

Pride Month at WPL

WPL is excited to partner with SPECTRUM, Waterloo Region’s Rainbow Community Space, on a fantastic line-up of programs and events in recognition of Pride Month this June. Pride Month is about celebrating people in 2SLGBTQ+ communities while also promoting equality and visibility. Join WPL – to learn, to have fun and to appreciate how each member of our community contributes to creating safe, welcoming spaces for one another.

Pride Month programs are presented with funds from the Ginny Knight Memorial Fund, for which they are very grateful.

Gabrielle Fayant: A Métis Experience and Empowering Youth

Gabrielle Fayant is an off-Settlement Metis woman, whose family is from Fishing Lake Metis Settlement, AB, one of the 8 land-based Metis Settlements in Canada. Gabrielle is an award winning woman for her work in community, youth empowerment, and Indigenous rights awareness. She has worked with several Indigenous and non-profit organizations and is currently a Helper and Co-Founder of Assembly of Seven Generations (A7G). A7G is an Indigenous owned and youth-led, non-profit organization focused on cultural support and empowerment programs/policies for Indigenous youth while being led by traditional knowledge and Elder guidance. Gabrielle is passionate about cultural resurgence and justice for all Indigenous peoples.
