(1949) - An End to the Neglect of the Problems of Negro Women - Claudia Jones

In her 1949 essay titled, An End to the Neglect of the Problems of Negro Women, Claudia Jones addresses the intersecting oppression faced by Black women, particularly in how they are neglected in both feminist and civil rights movements. She argues that the struggles of Black women must be seen as central to the broader fight for racial and gender equality. Jones highlights how the intersection of racism, sexism, and classism marginalizes Black women in both the workplace and society, and she calls for a political movement that specifically centres on their issues.

To understand this militancy correctly, to deepen and extend the role of Negro women in the struggle for peace and for all interests of the working class and the Negro people, means primarily to overcome the gross neglect of the special problems of Negro women.
