(1964) - The 12 Point Program of RAM - Revolutionary Action Movement
In the 1960s, the Revolutionary Action Movement responded to the systematic marginalization of Black students within the broader political, educational, and social systems. In their response emerged Afro-American Student Movement (ASM), a sector of the Revolutionary Action Movement. The movement aimed to empower Black students by organizing them around issues like education, history, and the struggle for liberation. ASM emphasized the importance of revolutionary action, including the creation of “Freedom” schools and the joining of the masses to challenge oppressive structures. The organization argued that only through revolutionary change, including the overthrow of white capitalist rule, could Black Americans achieve true liberation and self-determination.
