The Equity Survey took about 5 minutes to complete, and with the first round of reporting coming out in late Fall 2021, data collection was paused on October 31, 2021. In late May 2022, the survey was re-activated for employees through a refreshed Workday notification. If you would like to complete the survey, but can’t find your individual link, please email equitysurvey@uwaterloo.ca.
There were two ways to participate in the survey, including following the embedded link in the Student Portal, Learn and Workday announcements and alerts.

Why: | Survey will help identify equity gaps in programs, services, and policies to better meet the needs of underrepresented and equity-deserving students and employees |
In mid-June 2021, we launched Waterloo’s equity survey to all students and employees. We are gathering this data to better understand the makeup of our community. Collecting this equity data will be an ongoing initiative to ensure we always have an accurate picture of who is among our campus community. This year, the survey is re-opening for employees May through June 2022 while the institution moves toward collecting this data in our enterprise systems (Quest and Workday).
Equity data describes aspects of your personal identity. Collecting this information will help us identify equity gaps in programs, services, and policies to better meet the needs of underrepresented and equity-deserving students and employees.
Paper copies of the survey are available for those who are not able to use the online version. If you would like to use an alternate format, such as PDF or paper copy, please email equitysurvey@uwaterloo.ca.
The information you provide will create a complete picture of the makeup of our campus, creating opportunities for positive change now and in the future.
