What: The Making Spaces program is a framework for creating affirming spaces on campus and fostering interpersonal relationships through education and training on aspects of social identity.
How: This program offers attendees the opportunity to learn more about gender identity and expression, sexual identity, homophobia, heterosexism, bi-phobia, transphobia, and how these intersect with other identities. After completing this workshop, you will:
- receive practical recommendations and support to enable you to be an ally for social equality and equity;
- have an opportunity to sign a statement of affirmation if you wish to become an official Space Maker at the University of Waterloo.
- Space Makers at the University of Waterloo, are ambassadors of equity, who receive a visual identifier to honour the completion of the program and communicate that they are LGBTQIA2S+ affirming.
