Research project description
Work on topics of your choosing in social and political philosophy of language, under the supervision of Jennifer Saul.
The broader department includes experts in feminist epistemology and feminist philosophy of science (Carla Fehr, Katie Plaisance), philosophy of race and philosophy of education (Laura Mae Lindo), feminist ethics (Katy Fulfer), and philosophy of sex (Patricia Marino). PhD students may (but are not required to) enrol in Waterloo's unique Applied PhD programme, permitting them to do a placement applying philosophical ideas outside academia as part of their degree.
Previous graduate students of Jennifer Saul's in this area include Patrick Connolly on online conversations, Anna Klieber on communicating with silence, Neri Marsili on deception, and Martina Rosola on generics and stereotyping.
