Who is eligible?
PhD students beginning full-time studies in fall 2026 (September 2026) or winter 2027 (January 2027).
The housing guarantee is not available to PhD students coming with a spouse and/or children. If you’re coming with a spouse or children, you can apply to the family housing waitlist and seek off-campus housing.
Which housing is part of the guarantee?
Single graduate student housing at Columbia Lake Village and UW Place, featuring a private bedroom in a shared graduate student townhouse or apartment, living with other graduate students.

Applications for fall 2026 and winter 2027 are now open. Steps to apply:
- Accept your offer of admission by the deadline in your Applicant Portal
- Activate your WatIAM and set up Duo 2-factor authentication
Fall 2026
- Apply through the Campus Housing Application by June 8 at 11:59 pm ET to secure your guaranteed spot for fall 2026. Guarantee applicants must have an application submitted (reached the room selection section) to be part of the guarantee. Information about assignments will be sent to those in the guarantee the week after the deadline.
Winter 2027
- Apply through the Campus Housing Application by October 1 at 11:59 pm ET to secure your guaranteed spot for winter 2027. When applying, select winter 2027 and spring 2027 as the guarantee is only available as a two-term offer.
