If you've ever had to create a home-away-from-home, Giana Tomas can relate. Born and raised in the Philippines, the Rec and Leisure PhD student immigrated to Halifax seven years ago before moving to Waterloo to pursue her doctorate. Now she’s channeling her lived experience of migration into research on how “home” impacts newcomers’ health and well-being.
