Important: Significant service outages this weekend (March 3)

Thursday, February 29, 2024

What is happening? IST is replacing a major component of the network on Sunday, March 3 from 9am to 4pm.

What is the impact in Health?

  • Mailing lists - refrain from sending messages to any UW mailing list on Sunday to avoid bouncing/rejected email (i.e. addresses like @lists.uwaterloo.ca)
  • WatIAM - will be unavailable from Sunday morning to Monday morning
  • Off-campus access to phones (using Skype for Business) will require you to use the VPN on Sunday (connect to the VPN before using your Skype for Business phone)

Periodic outages will be experienced throughout Sunday:

  • Wireless - signing in to the wireless network. This will not affect you if you are connected already when the disruption occurs. It may affect you if you move to a new location while there is a service disruption.
  • HealthCloud - online/live editing of Office documents
  • Health websites - two French-language sites and the Health Hub publication site (Minimisation des risques de disparition des personnes atteintes de démence (MRDPD), Indice canadien du mieux-être, and Health Hub)
  • Website footers will break on most websites temporarily but will self-correct
  • Other UW web pages, including but not limited to: Campus Map, Campus Search, Scholar.
  • Website redirects that channel traffic from old sites to new ones may fail
