The University of Waterloo Libraries recently caught up with Sarah and Lakshmi, winners of this year’s Sharon Lamont Student Award. The award is given annually to students who have worked at the Libraries and have, through extracurricular involvement, supported equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Since 2010, the Red Dress movement, originated by Métis artist Jaime Black, has been both an artistic and educational call to action, raising awareness of the disproportionate number of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit (MMIWG2S) people in Canada.
