Parchment, measure: 302x217mm, 155 fols, two columns at 38 lines. Beginning of second folio: Lors de ville ou talant d'aler. The manuscript contains the Roman de la rose. At the end, the following lines have been added:

  • Explicit le Romans de la Rose,
    Ou l'Art d'Amours est toute enclose.
    Nature rit, si com moy semble,
    Quant hic et hec joingnent ensemble.
     

*The miniature is severely damaged in the area of Genius' and Nature's faces.

Initials:
Unclear initial, but probably foliated with extenders upward and downward framing the miniature and the text on the right and the left.

Frame:
Simple gold leaf exterior frame with corner pieces, and interior frame with white wavy patterns and decorative details over a blue background.
The column is also surrounded by two gold foliated bars.

Background:
Red and blue diaper pattern (checkerboard and lozenges)

Genius is sitting, his arms together and placed upon Nature's head. He is looking down, absolving her of her sins.
Nature is kneeling on both knees, her hands together in the act of prayer. Her head is bowed.

Genius is sitting on a brown bench, symbolizing a cathedra or bishop's seat.
