Detailed manuscript information (based on Ernest Langlois, Les manuscrits du Roman de la rose. Description et classement, Geneva: Slatkine Reprints, 1974, p. 85):

Parchment, measure: 302x217mm, 155 fols, two columns at 38 lines. Beginning of second folio: Lors de ville ou talant d'aler. The manuscript contains the Roman de la rose. At the end, the following lines have been added:

  • Explicit le Romans de la Rose,
    Ou l'Art d'Amours est toute enclose.
    Nature rit, si com moy semble,
    Quant hic et hec joingnent ensemble.

Initials:
Left-hand column, line 9. Height: 2 lines. Decorated foliate initial “O”. The “O” appears on a gilded background.
Right-hand column, line 19. Height: 2 lines. Decorated foliate initial “Q”. The “Q” appears on a gilded background.

Rubric:
Placed above miniature. Reads: “Com[m]e[n]t lama[n]t cueille la rose”

Frame:
Miniature: Gilded outer frame with blue inner border with white wavy pattern on the left, right and bottom, and white zigzag pattern on top.
Text: Gilded extenders with blue, red and white detail surround both columns of the text, with foliate detail in gold, pink and blue with white detail.

Background:
Diaper pattern background. Square lattice with red squares. Alternating square and circle detail in blue ink.
Similarities with other images from the corpus BNF, Ms. Fr. 24392, fol. 175r.

Gestures:
Fair Welcoming's index finger is elevated signifying the gesture of speech. Lover reaches for the rose.
Similarly to BNF, Ms. Fr. 24392, fol. 175r., Fair Welcoming looks on as the Lover grasps the rosebush.
