MPS Holiday Parties in Ottawa and Toronto draw largest number of alumni and students yet

Monday, December 7, 2015

The MPS program hosted its very first Holiday Party this year, in two locations –Ottawa and Toronto.

On December 3, students and alumni gathered at the Blue Cactus Bar and Grill in Ottawa to catch up with old friends and to even make some new ones. The Ottawa crew came out in full force for the event, with

representation from every cohort, 2012-2016. This was a special opportunity to hear all about the fantastic work MPSers are doing in various departments of the federal government, and more importantly, to celebrate these successes.

The party continued the very next day with a celebration at Fionn MacCool’s in Toronto, where many other alumni and students came to enjoy evening

out together as a vibrant and engaged MPS community. Sami Elfar, MPSA Director of Social Affairs, was one of the current students who made time for the MPS Holiday Party, despite a hectic week of presentations, papers, and pending final exams. He explained the importance of this event by saying,

It really gave us current students an opportunity to get to know some of the alumni in greater detail. The advice we were able to solicit was invaluable especially relating to co-op procedures and best practices going forward. Seeing how the various alumni have progressed gave me further confidence in the quality of education and practical experience being provided through our course work. Seeing the positive interactions between alumni and faculty reinforced the strong sense of community and the 'family like' atmosphere that exists within the MPS community. Overall, it was a great networking opportunity and captured what truly makes this program special.”

We hope everyone had a terrific time and we hope to see you all again in the Spring!
