Why did you choose Waterloo’s Master of Public Service program?
I chose MPS because I have always been very interested in the public service. When I read about the program, I knew it would teach me all I needed to know and also allow me to seamlessly enter the public service through the co-op program.
Tell us about your current position working for eHealth Ontario as a Junior Business Analyst.
I was very lucky to be placed in eHealth Ontario’s Common Services Department, which focuses on legal contracts and financial agreements. We work very closely with the legal department. As someone who will be pursuing law in the near future, I could not have asked for a better position. I am gaining very valuable experience in government laws and regulations. In addition to that, I am working with an amazing group of people. Their help and kindness made my transition to the public service very exciting.
What are your favourite MPS moments?
I consider myself extremely lucky to have the opportunity to be part of the MPS program. Even though the experience was one of the most stressful experiences in my life, I was able to land my dream job, meet amazing people, and attend great social events, all through the program.
What advice do you have for someone interested in taking the MPS program?
Do not think twice before you join the program and be very patient during the co-op process. It might take time, but it works out very well at the end.
