N Sri Namachchivaya
Navaratnam Sri Namachchivaya is a Professor of Aerospace Engineering and the Director of the Nonlinear Systems Group at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he has been a professor since 1985. Professor Sri Namachchivaya is internationally renowned for his scholarly contributions to the fields of nonlinear systems, random dynamical systems, estimation and filtering theory. His research focuses on understanding noisy nonlinear dynamical systems and developing new algorithms and tools for the collection, assimilation and harnessing of data using multidisciplinary approaches from asymptotic methods, modeling, statistical learning and simulations.
Professor Sri Namachchivaya holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics from the University of Waterloo, Canada. He is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award, Xerox Award, MSRI and Russell Severance Springer Professorship at University of California, Berkeley, and he has been invited as a distinguished visiting professor at numerous institutions world-wide. Professor Sri Namachchivaya is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
He has co-authored over 125 scientific articles in journals and books, and has co-edited 12 books on nonlinear and random dynamical systems. He is on the editorial board of several journals in the area of nonlinear and stochastic dynamics. He has been the co-chair of thirteen of international conferences on applications of nonlinear and random dynamical systems. To date, Professor Sri Namachchivaya has co-authored approximately 250 publications and has given over 200 invited talks, including numerous keynote lectures.
