Utsab Banerjee

Post Doctoral Fellow

Utsab has obtained his Ph.D. and M.Tech from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India in the year 2021 and 2015 respectively. During his M.Tech and Ph.D., he had worked on passive and active manipulation of magnetic and non-magnetic interfaces on microfluidic platforms. Utsab has obtained his bachelor's (B.E.) from the Department of Power Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. He is currently involved in research related to wetting and interfacial science.

A-Reum Kim

Post Doctoral Fellow

A-Reum Kim completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering (Nanotechnology Engineering) under the supervison of Prof. Boxin Zhao and Prof. Sushanta Mitra.  She completed her dual BSc in Mechanical Systems and Design Engineering with First Class Honors from Seoul National University of Science and Technology, Seoul, South Korea and the University of Northumbria, Newcastle, the United Kingdom, in 2016. She obtained her MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Pohang University of Science and Technology, Pohang, South Korea in 2018.

Sirshendu Misra

Post Doctoral Fellow

Sirshendu Misra completed his Ph.D. in 2023 from the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Dr. Sushanta Mitra. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in 2015 with B.Tech (Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering and M.Tech in Thermal Science and Engineering as the topper of his specialization. His research interests include liquid-liquid encapsulation related to interfacial science. He is also CTO of SLE Enterprises B.V., the Dutch startup.

Surjyasish Mitra

Post Doctoral Fellow

Surjyasish finished his PhD in Applied Physics from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2021. His doctoral thesis focused on understanding the dynamic wetting of liquid drops on soft solids with a particular focus on the complex stick-slip characteristics exhibited by fast moving contact lines. Previously, he obtained his Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from York University, Canada and his Bachelor’s from Jadavpur University, India.

Sudip Shyam

Post Doctoral Fellow

Sudip has completed his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati in the year 2021. He has broad research experience in the area of droplet-based microfluidics, particularly experimental microfluidics. He has extensively used many advanced experimental measurement techniques such as Infrared Thermography, micro-Particle Image Velocimetry (μ-PIV), micro-Laser Induced Fluorescence (μ-LIF), Fluorescent Microscopy, High-Speed Imaging, and many more, to solve his research problems.

Xin Zeng

Post Doctoral Fellow

Xin has obtained her Ph.D. and B.S. degrees from the School of Mechatronical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China, in 2016 and 2021, respectively. Afterwards, she joined the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in 2021. Her research was focused on the design and fabrication of transition metal electrocatalysts for water/seawater splitting. Currently, she is working on the development of catalysts for fuel cells at the University of Waterloo, under the co-supervision of Prof.
