On April 4 Nanotechnology Engineering (NE) faculty, staff and students gathered in the E7 event space to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2023 graduating class. This graduating class is special, they persevered with their studies through two difficult years of the pandemic. They had the dedication and resiliency to complete their engineering degree!

Program Director Ting Tsui was on hand to welcome the students to the event.

The students were treated to a delectable feast at a sit-down dinner followed by sumptuous desserts. The event space was festively decorated with balloons and of course, some Canadian geese. Students had fun capturing memories with their friends at the photo booth.

The excitement mounted as Professor Hany Aziz announced this year’s eight Capstone-winning teams. The team members were called up to the stage and cheered on by their classmates!

Dean of Engineering Mary Wells delivered a virtual grad toast, encouraging the graduating class to use the skills and expertise they mastered to attain their undergraduate degree to address the global challenges society faces today.

As Professor Tsui encouraged attendees to raise their glasses to toast the graduates, confetti flew from the balconies above! Glasses clinked and confetti floated all down on. It was a joyful celebration!

Here is to the 2023 Nanotechnology Engineering graduates! Go out into the world and use your education to make the world a better place. Congratulations to the Class of 2023!
