Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for Open Educational Resources

Thursday, March 4, 2021 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST (GMT -05:00)

Please join us on March 4 at 2:00 pm Eastern/11 am Pacific for CopyTalk to hear about the Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for Open Educational Resources, the latest in the series of best practices in fair use from American University’s Center for Media & Social Impact, the Washington College of Law, and the Association of Research Libraries.

This Best Practices is built on a series of workshops, interviews, and webinars that were conducted over the course of 2019 and 2020. It is intended to support authors, teachers, professors, librarians, and all open educators in evaluating when and how they can incorporate third party copyright materials into Open Educational Resources to meet their pedagogical goals. As teachers are making an emergency shift to online education, one component of that struggle is navigating concerns around copyright when finding digital teaching materials.

Our speakers will be Peter Jaszi and Meredith Jacobs from the Washington College of Law and Will Cross from North Carolina State University Libraries.
