Inclusive Instructional Practices: Useful OERs for Instructors and Staff

Wednesday, March 8, 2023 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm EST (GMT -05:00)

Speakers: Rebecca MacAlpine (graduate educational developer, CTE), and Svitlana Taraban-Gordon (senior educational developer, CTE)

To introduce considerations of equity, diversity, and inclusivity in curricular and co-curricular offerings, many instructors and staff are looking for resources on inclusive instruction and inclusivity-informed practices – either for their own professional learning or to share and use with their students. In the last three years, several excellent OERs that focus on inclusivity, in a broad sense, were developed by Canadian institutions, including ours. In this 30-minute resource-sharing session, we will use a guided tour approach to share some OERs with a focus on Indigenization, intercultural considerations, anti-racism, mental health and wellbeing, and equity-minded teaching. We will highlight some activities, tools and elements of selected OERs that could be adapted in various teaching and learning contexts.
