What prompted you to become involved in OER?

My belief that knowledge should be equally accessible to everyone, not limited by cost of resources, location, etc.

Tell us about an OER project you are working on

Well, all of the Teaching Tips on the website of the Centre for Teaching Excellence are open access (under a CC license). I've made other resources, too, and shared them on the web.

A lot of instructors are hesitant about OER. Do you share those hesitations? How do you address them?

I don't share those hesitations. If I'm trying to persuade someone, I might say, "Consider your and my privileged access to learning resources; compare that to someone in a developing nation or a marginalized community. It costs us so little and can benefit them so much."

Can other instructors interested in OER reach out to you?

Yes, at mmorton@uwaterloo.ca.
