The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) — University of Waterloo Collaboration Centre ("Collaboration Centre") is a hub for researchers from Waterloo and the NRC, focusing on advancing research in Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Cybersecurity, and Quantum Computing, while developing student and early career researcher skills.

Previous and ongoing projects
The Collaboration Centre Joint Seed Funding Program is a competitive initiative aimed at fostering high-impact research by combining NRC and Waterloo expertise. It also supports the training of high-quality personnel (HQP). The program aims to initiate new collaborations, laying the groundwork for participation in NRC’s various funding programs, including Challenge programs, Cluster support programs, and Ideation fund initiatives.

At the Collaboration Centre, successful research projects require a research team comprising at least one full-time researcher from Waterloo and one from NRC.
