16th International Symposium on Advances in Extraction Technologies, ExTech-2014

Sunday, May 25, 2014

Chania

The International Symposium on Extraction Technologies (ExTech) series started in 1999, and has been held annually around the world [Waterloo, Canada (1999-2000), Barcelona, Spain (2001), Paris, France (2002), St. Pete Beach, FL, USA (2003), Campinas, Brazil (2004), Liepzig, Germany (2005), York, UK (2006), Ålesund, Norway (2007), Bruges, Belgium (2008), Rapid City, USA (2009), Poznan, Poland (2010), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2011), Messina, Italy (2012), and João Pessoa, Brazil (2013)].

The ExTech® symposium is the world leading scientific meeting for sample preparation, analytical extraction and sample clean-up techniques. The focus of the symposia has been the discussion and presentation of the theoretical and fundamental aspects of well-established and novel technologies and materials, as well as their application to biological, pharmaceutical, chemical, clinical, environmental and forensic analysis. Lectures and presentations will cover traditional and emerging techniques such as Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) and Microextraction (SPME), Stir Bar Sorptive Extraction (SBSE), and Liquid Phase Microextraction (LPME), as well as novel materials and formats. It will be a perfect opportunity for researchers and analysts to present, discuss and exchange ideas in all areas of sample preparation and extraction, on application fields such as green chemistry, forensic, bioanalytical, natural products, food and flavor chemistry.

In its 16th year, this cutting edge international research meeting will be hosted by the School of Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Crete from 25th to 28th May 2014 on the island of Crete, one of the most attractive travel destinations in Greece. This symposium will take place in the Centre of Mediterranean Architecture, a historical monument located in the heart of the Venetian port in Chania, featuring contemporary architectural interventions that will provide an inspiring backdrop to the meeting. To mark this year’s meeting, the key theme will be "Sample Preparation for Clean Oceans and Seas". A short course on this theme will be held on the 25th of May 2014.

Looking forward to welcoming you to Chania in May 25th to 28th 2014!

Elia Psillakis
Chairwoman ExTech2014
