The School of Accounting and Finance was the first English speaking professional school of its kind in Canada. We offer 2 undergraduate - Accounting and Financial Management and Computing and Financial Management - and 3 graduate - Master of Accounting; Master of Taxation; PhD in Accounting - programs to provide students with the technical, analytical, evaluative, and communication skills needed to prepare for successful careers in public accounting, finance, industry, government and not-for-profit sectors. In conjunction with the Faculties of Mathematics and Science, the School also administers 2 undergraduate programs - Mathematics/CPA; Biotechnology/CPA - and 1 graduate program - Master of Quantitative Finance.
The School of Accounting and Finance has received the highest level of national accreditation under the new Chartered Professional Accountancy (CPA) National Accreditation Standards, expanding on the transitional legacy exemption granted in October 2012. The SAF's national accreditation provides a range of customized pathways for SAF students to tailor their education for a direct route to the CPA designation.
When current students in the Accounting and Financial Management (AFM), Biotechnology/CPA, and Mathematics/CPA programs combine their undergraduate studies with the Master of Accounting (MAcc) graduate program can move directly to the CPA Common Final Examination (CFE).
The legacy transitional exemption was a show of confidence from CPA Ontario in how well the SAF has prepared graduates for professional accreditation in accounting.
