Rapid Prototyping Centre

The Rapid Prototyping Centre (E5-2002) provides high quality 3D printing and laser cutting to students, staff and faculty at the University of Waterloo. Whether you are an undergraduate student working on a fun side project to a design team member preparing for a big competition, we have the tools to help.

Bambu Lab self-service 3D printing

  • 30 available desktop 3D printers: 12 Bambu Lab P2S, and 18 Bambu Lab P1S
  • First-come first-served basis, in-person only
  • Available filaments include PLA, PETG and TPU

Laser cutting

  • Parts can be ordered online using the laser cutter request form.
  • Materials can be provided by the user or purchased from the RPC.
  • Capable of cutting 1/4" or 1/8" acrylic, and 1/8" fibreboard and plywood
  • Epilog M2 40 Laser Cutter
    • CO2 laser with 28" x 40" cutting bed
    • 75W laser
  • Trotec Speedy 300 Laser Cutter
    • CO2 laser with 29" x 17" cutting bed
    • 75W laser

Bambu Lab speciality 3D printing

  • Order prints online with our Bambu Lab H2D and X1 Carbon printers.
  • X1Cs are available with PLA, PETG, TPU, Multicoloured PLA prints, water-soluble supports, and carbon-fiber reinforced material.
  • Our H2D printer allows up to 5 colours at once with a maximum printing volume of 320mm x 300mm x 325mm.
