Abdul Rahman Ghannoum is a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University of Waterloo. His research interests include system optimization, lithium-ion batteries, material development, fiber-optic sensors and sensor development.
His recent research has been focused on developing a smart LIB with embedded sensors that monitor internal activities. He studied the phenomenal colour change in graphite electrodes within lithium-ion batteries and worked towards developing a method to embed fiber-optic sensors within pouch-type batteries. This work has also lead to his focus on sensor fabrication, enhancing the sensitivity to optical changes and hence improving the perfomance of embedded sensors.
