About Megan
Megan’s fascination with river processes and geomorphology stems from childhood family trips hiking in and around Banff and Jasper National Parks – and an opportune high school geography project that had the entire class wading around a creek for two days. In her free time, Megan enjoys playing badminton, learning languages, dabbling with musical instruments, and picking up new skills.
Current Research
Assessing gravel mobility at a lake outlet to support salmon spawning enhancement projects
Research Interests
Megan is interested in the interdisciplinary and the socio-environmental nature of water and river-related problems. Her research focuses on investigating the engineering design requirements for spawning gravel at lake outlets to restore Chinook salmon populations. The research is conducted through a combination of RFID field tracers, 2D/3D numerical modelling, and scaled flume modelling in the lab. The project is funded by a Mitacs Accelerate Fellowship and is completed in partnership with Ecofish Research Ltd.
