Professor Goldthorpe’s expertise is in electronic materials. My group engineers novel materials for electronic device applications such as solar cells, electronic displays, and smart windows. We exploit the properties of nanomaterials in particular, as they allow for simpler, more cost-effective deposition, can enable electronics on alternative substrates such as plastics and textiles, and possess desirable properties such as optical transparency and mechanical flexibility. Current research thrusts include transparent electrodes, printable, flexible electronics, and wearables/e-textiles.
