Abstract:
This is an informed, critical and comprehensive analysis of the impact of the end of the Cold War on Africa and the attempts by African states to adjust to the emerging international order. The chapters, which are all original, have been written by some of the leading and most perceptive scholars working in African history, politics, economics, environment and international relations.
Topics included fall into the above broad subject areas, as well as -- more specifically -- security and strategic issues, human rights, conflict management, relations with the great powers, international organizations and multilateral financial institutions. The book brings together in one volume both original data and critical new thinking on Africa's post-Cold War international relations.
