I have fifteen years of progressive experience in secondary and postsecondary education, through support, advising, and teaching roles. Currently I am a doctoral candidate in the department of English Language and Literature. My main interest is in examining depictions of race, gender, and sexuality in speculative fiction, especially visual media. My major project is a study of the application of depictions of shapeshifting and transgenerational memory to the teaching of gender and postcolonial theory. I am also preparing manuscripts on transnational feminist pedagogy, and fMRI studies of postpartum depressed men and women.
In Fall 2018 I am teaching Introduction to Academic English, and in Winter 2019 I will be teaching Science Fiction. In addition to my English department teaching, I have taught in the Speech Communication department, and supported a Women's Studies course.
