Michael joined SEED in January 2013. His research examines organizational perceptions and responses to sustainability issues through the lens of space, time, scale, and social license to operate within the contexts of the insurance industry, mining, carbon management, Blue Economy, sustainable concerts and venues, climate change and global security, and sustainability management pedagogy. His research has most recently PhD in the Academy of Management Review and the British Journal of Management.
Michael currently supervises one PhD students and five sustainability management master’s students doing research within and apart from his research pipeline, as well as sitting on three thesis committees. Michael has supported the training of highly qualified personnel (one Ph.D. and 24 masters’ students) as an examiner, committee member or supervisor since 2013.
Before entering academia, Michael worked in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Most notably, he was the Executive Director of the Canadian Snowboard Federation.
