Nicholas Palaschuk is a Doctoral Candidate in the Sustainability Management program at the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development. A current SSHRC Joseph-Armand Bombardier CGS-Doctoral Scholar and Energy Council of Canada Energy Policy Research Fellow, Nicholas works in the fields of corporate sustainability, organizational behaviour, and sustainability transitions. Given that organizations are often cited to be amongst the largest contributors to climate change, his research emphasizes business process management innovation techniques that create direct linkages between climate change and business outcomes. Through sustainability-oriented research at the building, firm, and individual employee levels, his research seeks to develop insights into management innovations that improve organizational behaviour and decision-making, governance, and culture processes/structures. Working under the supervision of Dr. Paul Parker of the University of Waterloo, his current work focuses on engaging organizations in creating a culture of sustainability while exploring the role of organizational culture in supporting individual and collective transitions toward pro-environmental behaviour in the workplace and supporting organizational transitions towards improved performance realities.
Nicholas holds both a BSc. in Biology (2015) and MSc. in Bioscience, Technology and Public Policy (2018) from the University of Winnipeg. His previous graduate work focused on developing community-based governance approaches to sustainable forest management and social enterprise development while working collaboratively with Canada’s Aboriginal communities. With experience spanning management, social, and natural sciences, Nicholas combines a strong interdisciplinary research background with direct experience engaging stakeholders across Canada to explore the multi-dimensionality of sustainability issues.
