I completed my Optometric training in South Africa and MS and PhD from the University of Houston in the United States. My post-doctoral training was at the University of Toronto in Canada.
I am a Professor at the School of Optometry and Vision Science, University of Waterloo. I teach or have taught clinical techniques, geometrical, ophthalmic and visual optics and neurophysiology to professional (OD) students and psychophysics, experimental methods and data analysis courses to graduate students. I am or have been a clinical instructor in Primary Care, Binocular Vision and Electrodiagnostics.
My research centres on ocular soft metrology, sensory, structural and physiological properties of the ocular surface, binocular vision (particularly inhibitory interactions), human visual electrophysiology and applying technology in teaching, clinical and research settings.
