SWREN 472R/SWK672R: International Context of Practice (Mexico):
This elective course provides students with an opportunity for experiential learning in Mexico during the University of Waterloo Reading Week. It is combined with three pre-trip Saturdays that offer an understanding of global influences, information about international travel, and field experiences in Canadian urban and rural settings for comparative purposes, as well as a post-trip Saturday for debriefing, comparative analysis, and personal action planning. The study week in Cuernavaca and Mexico City includes meetings and site visits with farmers, economists, activists, and community workers there. Academic readings and assignments complement the experiential learning.
