About the Strategic Plan

As the Faculty of Science explores the “Future of Science” through the development of a strategic plan, I am excited about the opportunity to connect with so many of you to discuss what you believe should and could be the future of science here at the University of Waterloo.

The success of this strategic plan relies on students, alumni, staff, and faculty participating in its creation to ensure we come out with a final piece everyone can get behind. To guide us through the creation of our strategic plan, we have engaged KPMG who have extensive experience conducting broad and inclusive consultations in the educational space. Once completed, this plan will help guide us through the next five years and beyond into the Future of Science at UW.

What you’re thinking now is, “How do I participate?” There will be many times throughout this process when we will be calling on members of the Science community to bring their thoughts and ideas to the table and make sure we are on the right track. I encourage you to take part in engagement sessions and information open houses, share ideas with members of the SPEC or anonymously through our planning team email, and revisit this website throughout the next few months for news.

To see where we are in the planning process, you can visit the timeline page. Updates to this site will be made in real-time on our blog so you can see how we are progressing and when opportunities for feedback are upcoming.

As always, I’m open to hearing what your thoughts are via email, during my office hours or by taking advantage of my open-door policy. I look forward to creating the Future of Science together.
