Join the water researchers from University of Waterloo and the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka to discuss global water matters

UW- SWIGS (Students of the Water Institute Graduate Section) is pleased to host a virtual panel discussion on the research related to water in collaboration with University of Peradeniya. The panel discussion will be followed by an opportunity for discussion and questions with audience members.

The purpose of this event is to foster networking and quality connections between students in the water field in both the University of Waterloo and the University of Peradeniya. This event will be hosted online via Zoom and registration is required. Please register here.

Panelists Profiles

Rodrigo Curty Pereira; is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management and a member of the Water Collaborative Program at the University of Waterloo. He investigates how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting disadvantaged communities that lack access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH) in Brazil. Rodrigo has a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, where he conducted research about the BRICS’ direct investments and investment treaties in Latin America and the Caribbean. He is the first recipient of the Marzieh (Mari) Foroutan Memorial Graduate Scholarship and one of only five recipients of the International Ontario Graduate Scholarship at the University of Waterloo for the year 2022.

Thilini Gunawardhana [BSc Eng (Hons), AMIE(SL), Aeng] is a masters student at the University of Peradeniya. She is particularly interested in doing research on the field of Water and Environmental Engineering. Currently, a masters candidate at the Dept. of Civil Engineering, University of Peradeniya, nearing the completion of MSc Eng. degree by end of July 2022.
