World Wetlands Day 2020

Our annual World Wetlands Day event will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 in Federation Hall at the University of Waterloo. This year's event will feature an afternoon research symposium including research seminars, lightning talks, poster presentations (including prizes!), and exhibitor booths. In the evening, there will be a public lecture on biodiversity and wetlands delivered by Dr. Stephen Faulkner, Supervisory Research Ecologist, USGS. Registration is free. All are welcome! Refreshements will be provided.

Registration and call for posters/lightning talks is open until January 27th!

Those interested in presenting a poster or lightning talk will be able to indicate so in the registration. Deadline for registration and poster/lightning talk submission is January 27th, 2020. Presenters can indicate if they wish to participate in the poster competition, with prizes available for best undergraduate poster and best graduate poster! Poster guidelines

Poster presentations will provide an opportunity for one-on-one discussions about your research. We recommend posters of approximately 3 ft x 4ft in size. We support students who wish to re-use a poster from a previous conference or event.

We strongly encourage those presenting a poster to also consider presenting a 3-minute lightning talk.

Lightning Talk Guidelines

Lightning Talks are an opportunity to promote your work to others interested in the field. You will have maximum 3 minutes to present 1-3 slides (maximum 3 slides). Most attendees will have some technical knowledge of wetland research. Therefore, we suggest that you maximize your impact in these 3 minutes by gearing your talk towards this technical audience. Lightning talks are in addition to a poster presentation, and you can direct the audience to discuss finer details of your work with you at your poster.
