Jake E. Ferguson is a PhD student in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management; his work is focused on remote sensing of cryosphere systems. Jake is primarily interested in using new satellite infrastructure to continuously monitor climate variables such as lake ice thickness, snow mass, and permafrost thaw in remote regions. He’s passionate about generating high-coverage datasets which can be made freely available to other researchers and the public.

As Co Vice-Chair Academic he is keen to facilitate talks, panels, and workshops which bring early-career researchers from disparate fields together to learn and collaborate on emergent climate issues.
