2022 Faculty, Staff and Retiree Giving Program Impact Report

Student in Waterloo gear

Thanks for supporting our students when they need it most.

Vivek

Every day, you support our campus community in so many important ways. As part of the Faculty, Staff and Retiree Giving Program, you take that impact even further, joining with your colleagues to make a positive difference at Waterloo.

Last year, as our students returned to in-person studies and many continued their learning online, your financial support helped them find a sense of community and belonging, no matter what challenges they may have been facing.

Thanks to your generosity in 2022, we did even more to help students pursue learning and discovery in a safe and supportive space with enhanced access to resources for social, intellectual, spiritual and physical wellbeing. In our latest Impact Report, you’ll find a few of those success stories. As you read them, I hope you feel the gratitude of the countless students who benefitted from your gifts.

On behalf of the University, thank you for building a community that empowers each and every one of our students to achieve their highest potential.

With gratitude,

Vivek Goel, CM
President and Vice-Chancellor

I’ve worked at Waterloo for almost a decade and consider it my second home. A few years ago, I set up a monthly gift via payroll deduction because I wanted to positively impact the lives of Waterloo students. They are our future. If every Waterloo faculty, staff and retiree were to give a little bit each month, we could have a huge collective impact and really help the students who need our support.

I came to Waterloo as an undergraduate student and now, 35 years later, I’m still here! Waterloo has given me so much that giving through the Faculty, Staff and Retiree Giving Program seemed like the right way to ‘pay it forward.’

Making a difference together

Jennifer

One thing I always hear when I talk to Waterloo students about the support they receive from you, our generous faculty, staff and retiree donors, is how good it feels knowing their community has their back. On top of helping them manage life’s challenges, whether it’s paying the rent or taking care of their mental health, your collective generosity is confirmation that someone cares enough to help.

Another thing students consistently tell me — every little bit matters, no matter how big or small. Your dedication to providing a reliable source of funding is the ultimate gift. As a result of your kindness, countless students found the support they needed in 2022.

Thank you for being a valuable part of a community that cares.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Murray
