UWaterloo has established an ongoing project to support students in areas of mental wellness and mental health. Students have access to individual appointments, seminars, workshops, and group therapy. All services strive to teach students skills that help them cope with life’s challenges.

Glow Centre

Glow Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity

Promotes a healthy attitude toward all sexual orientations and gender identities. Glow is the oldest queer and trans student organization in Canada. Run entirely by dedicated student volunteers, it offers a wide variety of discussion groups, social events, advocacy opportunities, awareness campaigns, resources, and information.

UW Mates Peer Support 

UW Mates

MATES (Mentor Assistance Through Education and Support) is a counselling-based, one-to-one peer support program offered by the Federation of Students (FEDs) and Counselling Services. MATES provides services to students who are experiencing social difficulties, mental health challenges, and transitional challenges adapting to university life or different cultures.

The Women’s Centre 

Womens Centre

Aims to provide a female-positive and supportive environment on campus for women and trans folks. Run entirely by dedicated student volunteers, it holds workshops, film screenings, and guest lectures. The centre provides students with resources on issues ranging from women's health to sexual violence.
