Since 2017, the Quantum Quest Seed Fund (QQSF) has awarded more than $2.88 million to quantum researchers across the University of Waterloo. This winter’s round of funding has been awarded to three Waterloo professors, as they explore and innovate new ideas and applications for quantum devices.
The following projects have received funding in Cycle 12:
- Designing MXene Quantum Dots for Rapid Pathogen Detection
Shirley Tang, Department of Chemistry -
Entanglement Harvesting with Superconducting Devices
Adrian Lupascu, Department of Physics and Astronomy -
Development of Inverse Photoemission Spectroscopy for quantum materials
David Hawthorn, Department of Physics and Astronomy
This fund is made possible thanks in part to funding from the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) and is associated with the Transformative Quantum Technologies (TQT) program and the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC). Over 12 separate rounds of funding, the QQSF has encouraged the development of new ideas and applications of quantum ideas.
The Quantum Quest Seed Fund is an important vector to expand the reach and impact of quantum research and development at Waterloo.
