Saad El-Ghazal is a student researcher at the University of Waterloo working at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), health technology, and health informatics. At UbiLab, he has contributed to projects such as Agelign, a machine-learning-based search engine for AgeTech standards, where his work has spanned UI/UX design, prototyping, frontend development, and search relevance evaluation. Alongside this work, he is currently completing an Honours thesis focused on evaluating and supporting the development of a joint UbiLab–National Research Council Canada health misinformation detection system. Across this work, he focuses on designing, building, and evaluating technologies around the people who use them, paying close attention to how systems work in practice and how they can be made more intuitive and useful. At the end of the day, he likes turning “why is this so complicated?” into “oh, that was actually pretty easy".
