What’s it all about?

Bitcoin started the so-called “Blockchain Revolution” but since its launch, blockchain technology has been proposed to create crypto currencies, asset ledgers, contract records and numerous other innovative systems. Some commentators have asserted that blockchain technology will disrupt the entire financial system. Others have asserted that it is an overhyped technology with limited possibilities. The goal of this conference is to explore the state-of-the-art in the workings of blockchain technology and to identify potential finance, accounting, control and assurance issues arising from this technology.

Blockchain in Canada and the world - A global update (1 hour)

Wunsche will present an update on global blockchain activity across a variety of industries and blockchain platforms, and also highlight state of blockchain applications in Canada.

Blockchain risk intelligence and anti-money laundering (1 hour)

Presenter/facilitator: Peter Warrack, AML Risk Intelligence, Bank of Montreal

This session will provide an overview of the importance of effective anti-money laundering techniques in the world of cryptocurrencies and blockchain, with specific focus on detection methods and regulatory requirements.

This session will discuss the challenges of managing blockchain security in an enterprise environment.
