Research: Our lab focuses on discovering how and why vascular disease is accelerated by complex blood flow and abnormal vascular wall properties. My past research has explored new measures of vascular function (longitudinal wall motion of large arteries), exercise physiology in individuals with spinal cord injury, and the effects of exercise and exercise training on vascular and cardiac health. Most recently, we are interested in using new blood flow imaging methods to study the regulation of complex blood flow, such as fluid recirculation in arterial bifurcations and blood stasis in venous valves.

Education

  • BScKin (McMaster University '12)
  • PhD (McMaster University '17)
  • Post-doc (University of Waterloo '20)

Courses

  • KIN 204: Movement Assessment and Exercise Prescription
  • KIN/HLTH 407: Cardiovascular Pathophysiology

Bio: My past interests included team sports (soccer, ultimate, squash, curling), but since all those were/are shut down by the pandemic, my home life has drastically changed in the last 2 years. Lately, you can find me playing Disc Golf 3-4x/week (favourite drivers: Cosmic Wave, Neutron Trace) or walking my golden retriever puppy around campus. Feel free to engage me with all your geeky hobbies - board games, Marvel, PC building, trivia, Star Wars - it's all on the table!
