Sitar profile

Research interests: I am interested in how cadaveric modelling can give us insight on various properties and structural implications of the cardiovascular system. I’d like to investigate ventricular-arterial coupling in regard to how tissue stress and strain are communicated between the left ventricle and aorta via the aortic ring during ventricular contraction/twisting. Other, more broad research I am investigating is how blood flow restriction during exercise impacts cardiovascular responses, and how the microfluidics of muscle are impacted by exercise after a period of manipulated edema.

Bio: I am a Kitchener-Waterloo native who also completed my BSc in Kinesiology with a minor in Medical Physiology right here at the University of Waterloo. When I’m not in the lab, I spend my time volunteering at Grand River Hospital or with the Varsity Woman’s Hockey Team whom I’ve been a student trainer with for three years now! I’ve also spent much of my time in the Anatomy Lab here on campus where I fell in love with all thing's anatomy. When I do finally get some me time, I love to go thrifting, sew new clothes, and spend time at the gym or with my animals.
