Megacities – Running on Empty

Dr. Frank SchwartzSchool of Earth Sciences, Ohio State University

Biography

Dr. Schwartz and his group are addressing three major research themes, (i) climate-driven variability in lakes and wetlands of the Prairie Pothole Region in the United States and Canada; (ii) new remedial technologies based on hyper-dense fluids for treating large, low concentration contaminant plumes in groundwater, and (iii) new passive engineering solutions for reducing contamination associated with urban runoff. This last project is a large collaborative effort being carried out with KIGAM in Korea. He and his students remain dedicated to developing new research ideas in emerging areas of hydrology in countries around the world.

Light refreshments will be provided.
